In Italy many people think that the English have tea just at 5 pm. Actually, tea is part and parcel of English life and it means relaxing, feet up and a good chat.
The more interesting question is: why do the English never finish their tea?
Cups of cold tea everywhere: toilet, kitchen, bedroom, living-room. Maybe it’s just finding comfort in something psychological that is associated with the thing rather than the thing itself. In this case, the cup turns into a sort of “living thing”, it’s part of the family and of the house with its own daily story.
This short series of photographs was chosen and exhibited at the West Gallery of the University of Westminster in 2009.

In Italia la maggior parte delle persone pensa che gli inglesi prendano il tè solamente alle 5 di pomeriggio. In realtà, il tè è una parte importante e costante della vita inglese e significa relax, una bella chiacchierata tra amici etc.
La domanda più interessante forse è: perché gli inglesi non finiscono mai il loro tè?
Tazze di tè freddo ovunque: in bagno, in cucina, in camera da letto, in soggiorno. Forse è solo la ricerca del comfort in qualcosa di psicologico che è associato non tanto all’oggetto in se stesso ma a ciò che rappresenta. La tazza diventa una sorta di “essere vivente”, è parte integrante della famiglia e della casa con una sua storia quotidiana.
Questa breve serie di fotografie è stata scelta ed esposta presso la London Gallery West nel 2009.
